THE MILL INN - Aldeburgh

" Our pub has a great location on the sea front and it’s friendly, with friendly regulars!  Our food’s affordable and includes freshly caught fish, crab and shell fish, most of which is landed on Aldeburgh Beach.  Wherever possible, we use local produce and vegetables and there are always numerous specials on offer to tempt your tastebuds”

The Mill Inn Aldeburgh, SuffolkSituated on the sea front at Aldeburgh, just behind the Moot Hall, the Mill Inn is a pub much loved by locals and visitors alike.  Dating back to the 16th century, it was once the haunt for smugglers who plied their trade the length of the Heritage Coast.

Walk in through the wooden doors and you’ll instantly feel part of Aldeburgh’s history when you see the leaded light windows and ancient beams.  The Mill Inn actually started life in the middle of the town but a combination of heavy tides and erosion over the past four centuries has led to its current position directly on the beach front.

Landlords Sue and Dennis Peel have created a reputation for great food, great company and great beer.  It’s a real family business with daughter, Kirstie, and son-in-law, Keith, helping to run the bar and kitchen.  Seen as the annexe to the local lifeboat station, it also attracts fishermen, locals and even 653 Squadron who use it as their home from home when visiting Aldeburgh for their annual celebrations.
